Packaging Innovations: PrintCity Alliance resumes trade fair appearances
The PrintCity Alliance marks its return to trade fairs at Packaging Innovations in Warsaw. Its members will again be presenting a range of eco-friendly solutions for premium packaging and efficient production methods. The Alliance is also contributing to the event’s program of seminars.
Trade fair – Relaunch for the PrintCity Alliance
After participating in Packaging On-novations, held on 24 and 25 June in place of the repeatedly postponed trade fair, the Alliance is now taking advantage of this prominent event in Warsaw to make its return to the trade fair scene. “Our initial experience shows that virtual seminars work very well. But we believe that personal contact with our customers will continue to be a crucial element of communication”, says Rainer Kuhn, Managing Director of the Alliance, explaining the decision, which was relatively easy to make thanks to the shared stand concept. All members who had originally planned to exhibit in April will be participating.
The trade fair simultaneously serves as a test of how visitors and customers will respond to traditional concepts in the wake of the corona lockdown. “We are very excited to see how a trade fair can function under the new corona rules and if customers and exhibitors will accept the changes. Overall we are very optimistic,” says Kuhn.
The 12th Packaging Innovations event takes place on 24 and 25 September in Warsaw, Poland.
The PrintCity Alliance’s shared booth D9 is located in the Blue Hall.

Seminar on eco-friendly premium packaging
In the PrintCity Alliance’s seminar, members introduce new products and concepts for premium paperboard packaging that support the rising trend towards sustainability and environmental compatibility.
Examples of leading topics include recyclable substrates, inks, varnishes and thin-film technology. Barrier coatings for paperboard and with varnishes make packaging of monomaterial design, i.e. with no composites, suitable for broader use, particularly in the food segment.
The use of LED UV reduces energy consumption and helps to cut CO2 emissions. This objective is also reflected in the certification of one of the companies, whose production operations have been totally climate-neutral since August.
Visitors can experience all of these aspects on the basis of numerous sample products, including the Better Human packaging for small electronic devices, introduced previously at virtual Packaging Innovations in June.
New samples are under development and will be exhibited as mock-ups at the seminar.
The seminar gives visitors to the virtual trade fair an opportunity to experience Better Human live and become acquainted with new products and concepts.
Participants at the Alliance’s shared stand D9 in the Blue Hall:
Graficus / Epple Druckfarben (offset inks and coatings), KAMA (cutting, stamping and gluing machines), PC Print / LEONHARD KURZ (hot stamping, cold and digital transfer applications, holograms), Metsä Board (folding cartonboard, white kraftliner, food service paperboard), Merck (special effect pigments), WEILBURGER Graphics (varnishes, adhesives and water-based flexo inks), Zeller+Gmelin (UV inks and coatings)
