Diverse exhibit and environment seminar at FachPack 2019

At FachPack 2019, the members of the PrintCity Alliance are making another appearance with a shared booth and exhibiting a diverse range of offerings.

At a seminar in the PackBox, the Alliance also is introducing its new Better Human project, the purpose of which is to demonstrate how premium packaging can be reconciled with the demands of environmental protection and sustainability.

Materials, high-quality print finishing, anti-counterfeiting, UV and process optimisation

The range of solutions and products exhibited by members and partners of the Alliance will be very wide.

Visitors can learn about new substrates, coatings and digital print finishing methods, as well as options for implementing UV technology, anti-counterfeiting and process optimisation.

And here, too, the focus is on the environmental aspects of the materials and processes.

Metsä Board, for instance, a leading European manufacturer of premium fresh-fibre paperboard, is presenting its new, optimised line of folding boxboard, comprising five lightweight grades with improved, high-performance pulp. The company also is showcasing paperboard grades with an eco-barrier, developed specifically for food and food service applications, as well as examples of innovative design in the PackageLab.

KURZ demonstrates at Fachpack how design and function interact. Its customer-specific TRUSTCONCEPT® solutions, for example, deliver effective counterfeiting protection and promote interaction between a brand and its consumers to strengthen customer ties. With its TTR UNIQUE VEROSPEC® solution, products can be marked with hidden authenticity features. hinderer + mühlich presents the latest stamping die technology, which lends an irresistible look and feel to print products. KURZ further is displaying examples of its brilliant DIGITAL METAL® finishing technique for high-quality individualisation and eye-catching holographic effects.

Exhibiting for the first time as a partner of the Alliance is BST eltromat International. It is spotlighting the current industry demands for quality assurance solutions and providing information on its product segments: web guidance, 100% inspection and video web monitoring.

IST Metz, as a leading supplier of UV curing systems, is involved in one of the most important processing steps in the production of creative, eco-friendly and sustainable packaging. At Fachpack, IST Metz is exhibiting UV curing systems for highly finished products, as well as for food packaging printing. One special segment of UV printing is the curing of inks and coatings with inert gas UV systems. IST Metz is also addressing excimer technology at Fachpack, which can produce extremely hard surfaces that display high scratch and abrasion resistance.

WEILBURGER Graphics GmbH is introducing not only brand-new coatings, flexo inks and adhesives, but also its high-efficiency, resource-saving manufacturing system for premium water-based coatings, which went into production this year and is likely the most modern of its kind in the world.

Seminar on packaging design, print finishing, production and the environment

Better Human, the PrintCity Alliance’s new project, combines premium packaging with the demands on environmental protection and sustainability.

The seminar addresses the environmental aspects of a packaging design.

It starts with the structural design of the packaging (mono-materials, use of fossil materials), continues with selecting the substrates, inks, coatings and foils, and concludes with options for recycling.

The seminar takes place on Wednesday, 25 September, from 10:00 a.m. - 11:45 a.m. in the PackBox, Hall 7.

The PrintCity Alliance stands are in Hall 7A Stand 136/138/148.

Participating companies:

BST eltromat International (process control and quality assurance systems), IST Metz (UV curing systems), LEONHARD KURZ (hot stamping and coating technology, holograms) Metsä Board (folding boxboard, white kraftliner, food service paperboard), WEILBURGER Graphics (varnishes, adhesives and water-based flexo inks).

About the PrintCity Alliance

PrintCity is a strategic alliance recognised as the “connection of competence” across the entire printing and packaging value chain, promoting the value of print and packaging.

In a dialogue with all stakeholders in the value chain, its objective is to promote and develop the value of print and packaging: brand owners – agencies and designers – printers, converters and finishers – suppliers.

Close collaboration between specialists enables members and project partners to implement highly demanding projects, pushing the limits of what is technically feasible and offering the market a comprehensive knowledge and competence base.

  • We deliver value to customers by gathering and sharing leading global know-how within a network.
