A printing technology bull's eye: The new book about Zlatan Ibrahimović

A heavyweight of the football world certainly deserves a weighty book: “I am Football” is the title of the latest publication about Zlatan Ibrahimović, the Swedish footballing superstar. The sporting book can boast a proud weight of 1,770 grams. Quality print promotes sales.

Labiink from Riga who is Epple Druckfarben AG’s sales partner in the Baltic States, expended enormous energy in the printing project “I am Football” and the corresponding ink supplies. Because many tons of sheet offset printing inks from Epple had to be ready for implementation in printing the initial print run of 200,000 books. The production of the book lasted 4 weeks. The central colours for the print on uncoated natural paper were a special CMY colour palette from the Livonia printing house, seven tons of black printing ink and 260 kilograms of Pantone Gold 871. The metallic tones had to be present as they were used for the 2011 biography “I am Zlatan Ibrahimović” which became a bestseller worldwide, with its black/gold cover. Not only does the footballer stand out from the crowd by scoring unbelievable goals, he can now expect to be a candidate for Book of the Year with “I am Football”.

Two new SENOFLEX® WB OPAQUE WHITES from WEILBURGER Graphics GmbH

WEILBURGER Graphics GmbH, based in Gerhardshofen, Franconia, has now developed two new opaque white products to provide its offset and flexo printing customers with solutions for the ongoing trend towards low-cost and recycled substrates with non-white surfaces.

SENOFLEX® WB OPAQUE WHITE 395800 is an opaque white specially formulated for application via a coating unit in offset printing. Depending on the press configuration, this opaque white can be applied inline in an upstream coating unit or offline via a first press run prior to actual printing. This opaque white has been developed to meet the highest demands and offers excellent opacity and a brilliant white even with a single pass. The degree of whiteness can be controlled by the amount of ink to be applied, depending on the requirements of the design and the substrate used. The increasingly used uncoated, single-coated and open-pored substrates become very good and dot-sharp overprintable due to the flat application of the opaque white.

SENOFLEX® WB OPAQUE WHITE 395802 is an opaque white that was developed for flexographic printing, in particular for corrugated post-printing, and enables printers to reproduce monochrome white information and designs, especially for grey and brown board. This flexo opaque white is currently not intended for overprinting or use in a mixing circuit with other ink systems, such as the various SENOFLEX® ink serie ...

New Coating Quantity Calculator from WEILBURGER Graphics GmbH

WEILBURGER Graphics GmbH, a globally renowned manufacturer of coatings, water based flexo inks and adhesives based in Gerhardshofen, Franconia, has now put a new coating quantity calculator online.

The coating quantity calculator enables the company's customers to calculate the coating quantities required for print jobs quickly and easily using given print job parameters. In addition to the sheet format, the area coverage for coating and the running length, including make ready and expected waste sheets, the anilox rollers used are also considered. The most common anilox rollers with GTT, Hexagonal, Hashur and ART gravures were taken into account. The coating quantity calculator also offers the option of calculating the required coating quantities for straight and perfecting jobs, if these are to be produced with the same coating and the same anilox roller, in just one calculation run. With different coatings and/or anilox rollers for perfecting, the user can also easily calculate these quantities by means of a second calculation run - without having to re-enter all parameters. Only the additional amount of coating required for filling and circulation per print run must be added by the calculator's user, as this varies depending on the system and the peripherals used - such as coating temperature control, for example. However, WEILBURGER Graphics expressly points t ...
