The TroFilms GmbH at LUXE PACK Shanghai

TroFilms GmbH, based in Georgensgmünd in central Franconia, can look back on a very successful trade fair participation as an exhibitor at LUXE PACK Shanghai.

Together with the Chinese partner Leading Technologies Co., Ltd. (LEADINGTECH) and the company WEILBURGER Graphics GmbH, an internationally renowned manufacturer of varnishes, flexo-inks and adhesives for the graphics industry from the Franconian town Gerhardshofen, TroFilms GmbH attended for the fourth time this year in China. The well-attended LUXE PACK Shanghai, which took place at the Shanghai Exhibition Center this year from 11 to 12 April, once again proved to be an excellent choice for talking to Asian printing companies, refiners, agencies and branded companies and for planning joint projects. 5th Packaging Inspiration Forum: Trends and Consumer Behaviour

Trends in the packaging industry and the increasingly rapid changes in consumer behaviour were the overriding themes at the 5th Packaging Inspiration Forum, held by the PrintCity Alliance in Hamburg on 26 and 27 February 2018.

The one-and-a-half days of the event offered an ideal opportunity for further discussion of the presentations, breakout and panel sessions. The event achieved 150 visitors, a record number. As in previous years, the Grand Elysée Hotel was the ideal venue.

Trends in the packaging industry and consumer behaviour

Trends in society are changing at a breathtaking rate, heading consistently in multiple, often seemingly contradictory, directions. It is consequently becoming increasingly difficult to distinguish between real trends and hypes. Technical development, very largely driven by digitisation, is likewise making rapid progress.

In a series of presentations, the speakers approached these topics from widely different angles, thus providing inspiration and ideas. The subjects addressed in this context included not only changes in society, but also e-commerce, digital printing, Industry 4.0 and new finishing technologies. Because there are no stock answers, ideas and options for business action could only emerge from a discussion of a broad range of viewpoints.

TroPROTECT®-X MATT – Brand new film grades from TroFilms GmbH

The German TroFilms GmbH, based in Georgensgmünd in Central Franconia, is launching a new film quality with immediate effect. Under the product name TroPROTECT®-X MATT, the film specialist has developed and lead to market an excimer film, meeting all the requirements of modern film applications.

In addition to a very high scratch and abrasion resistance at high matt grades with only 4.5 gloss levels (measured at 60 ° and a manufacturing tolerance of less than ± 1 gloss points) and excellent feel, this film quality can also convince by good tear resistance and very good processing qualities. Furthermore, the TroPROTECT®-X MATT is basically hot foil stampable like almost all foils of the TroFilms GmbH, can be overcoated with radically curing UV lacquers and glued (preliminary tests are recommended for all processing processes).

Ralf Troyer, Managing Director of TroFilms GmbH on the new TroPROTECT®-X MATT film: "Based on the requirements of the market and special wishes of our customers, we have developed the TroPROTECT®-X MATT film, our first film in the excimer UV process. In contrast to conventional matting processes, this process does not involve the addition of matting agents but instead produces the mattness of the coating surface by means of excimer radiation optimally matched to the surface coating. As a result, a high degree of scratch and scrub resistance and excellent processability can be guarante ...

WEILBURGER Graphics launches new, low-migration UV lacquer line

WEILBURGER Graphics GmbH, based in Gerhardshofen, Franconia, has been succeeded a breakthrough in the production of low-migration UV lacquers.

The company is now launching an UV lacquer, which is no longer based on “classical photoinitiator”, under the new product class SENOLITH® UV FP PLUS. The UV lacquer technology used for the first time in this new product eliminates the need for low-molecular photoinitiators, e.g. benzophenone or 4-methylbenzphenon, which minimize the migration of fission products. The use of low-molecular compounds < 1000 Dalton is omitted here. The UV irradiation initiates a self-crosslinking process which results in to a high crosslinking density of the polymer matrix.

The new SENOLITH® UV GLOSS LACQUER INLINE FP NDC PLUS 360430 is particularly low migration due to this new crosslinking technology. The SENOLITH® UV FP PLUS lacquers can be processed inline as well as offline with all common standard UV lamp systems.

All classical advantages of UV lacquer systems such as:

  • Immediately curing
  • Immediately further processing possible (inline)
  • No powder application in sheetfed offset
  • 100 % systems (solvent-free, no VOC-emissions)
  • Very high gloss, higher mechanical and chemical ...
